Services
Passing regulatory inspections every year, while a good thing, is not necessarily the most important indicator of quality care.
Some of the things I look for are:
• A safe and secure physical environment.
• Staff that is motivated, supportive, and compassionate.
• Staff engaged in conversation with residents as they go about their work.
• Residents engaged in meaningful activities (not BINGO 12 hours a day).
• Residents are not physically or chemically restrained for the convenience of the staff.
• Alert security to ensure that every one in the facility belongs there.
• Nutritional food that is served hot, and is presentable.
• Attending physicians who are well trained in caring for the elderly.
Long Term Care Planning
In my 30 years in the long term care (LTC) field I have witnessed first hand, the financial devastation caused by an extended nursing home stay.
Most people loathe talking about LTC. They don’t want to picture themselves as vulnerable and dependant on others. Statistically, 2 out of 3 seniors over the age 65 will need long term care before they die.
Many people mistakenly assume Medicare covers the cost of long-term care. In fact, this program does not cover custodial and personal care and even coverage of skilled nursing home care is quite limited. Medicaid is a major source of funding for long-term care, but the individual will generally be required to substantially reduce or even nearly exhaust his or her assets before becoming eligible for assistance.
You must plan now for the one cost that can derail your retirement. There are many vehicles available today to help us plan for long term care.
Long Term Care Insurance can assure that you stay at home and receive quality care and that your hard earned money will pass on to your spouse and children, not to a facility.
There are choices such as annuities and reverse mortgages for those who may not qualify for insurance. I am a long term care specialist. Let me tailor a plan that will be unique to your needs. Long–Term Care Solutions Tailored to Your Needs.
Many seniors today have made plans for their long-term care needs but fail to keep them updated. When you become my client I will make sure that your plan is up to date at all times.
